The story behind Rally Copper's introduction

On a Monday afternoon, I had an idea for the 4th member of the Cardinals Rally Squad. We already had Torty Craig, Sir Glovington A. Wilson, and Rally Squirrel around. The newest arrival's name was Rally Copper.

And as for selecting the name "Rally Copper," it was named after Fox 2 Morning Anchor Angie Mock's puppy dog, Copper. It seemed to be a perfect fit, considering that I like the Cardinals, puppies, and Mock.

KPNT fires Thom and Jeff. Tommy Mattern and Dana Loesch to blame?

A lot of the KPNT 105.7 The Point's loyal listeners are pissed off at the firing of Thom and Jeff.

From: Tommy Mattern Link

To: St. Louis Mail List
Subject: Emmis St. Louis

KPNT is restructuring and consolidating it's on-air line up. As of
today, Thom West and Jeff Burton will no longer be employed by the
station. Each are long time employees that have done a good job for the
Point. Please join me in wishing both Thom and Jeff the best of luck in
the next stage of their careers.

Who's to blame? Tommy Mattern and likely KFTK's hate talker Dana Loesch as well.
However, I've heard Jeff Burton say it's due to budget cuts (presumably to either pay Loesch a bigger salary and/or the fatcats at Emmis HQ).

Schedule (M-F):
6-10AM: Woody and Rizzuto
10AM-2PM: Lux
2-6PM: Donnie Fandango (around Summer 2009, he was moved from 6-10A to 10A-2PM)
6-10PM: Drew

BREAKING: Fox 2 hires Shawndrea Thomas

KTVI has hired a new anchor, and her name is Shawndrea Thomas. She is expected to work the 5 and 6PM Weekday newscasts on Fox2, possibly causing either Sandy Miller, Mandy Murphey, and/or Tom O'Neal to be pink slipped. The story was first broken by Fox 2 meteorologist Angela Hutti, on Twitter. Will she get a warm reception from Fox 2's fans, or will she be chastised rudely like what Angie Mock has received (a topic that I covered last night)? KTVI has also mentioned it on their Facebook and Twitter pages.

My verdict: For now, the jury's still out on whether she's any good or not as a reporter.

Keith Olbermann retuns to Current tonight

Guess who's coming back to TV tonight? Keith Olbermann. He is back on Current TV (the home to Al Gore and Vanguard), and his show will still be titled Countdown With Keith Olbermann. It'll be a bit different from his MSNBC incarnation of the show.

Shame that Charter still don't have Current TV.

MLB Network Changes

In the past few days, there has been significant programming and hosting changes at MLB Network.

1st off: Quick Pitch, which was alternated by Hazel Mae and Matt Yallof, is now hosted by Paul Severino, with Lisa Kerney doing weekend editions.

Next, The Rundown debuted this past Friday, with both of the former main Quick Pitch hosts (Mae and Yallof) now hosting the program. It holds the 3PM-5PM EDT/2-4PM CDT slot.

Recently, Intentional Talk debuted yesterday on both MLB Network and MLB Network radio. It is hosted by former Red Sox Kevin Millar and Fox Sports' Chris Rose.

Overall, the changes are for the better.

Angie Mock joins KTVI

She has dislodged Sandy Miller from the throne of the Hottest Personality on KTVI, and her name is Angie Mock.

KTVI has hired Mock to do the 4AM hour of Fox 2 News In The Morning. She was previously part of KOKH (Fox) 25 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and before that, KECI (NBC) 13, the NBC Montana flagship, in Missoula, Montana.

Angie Mock joined FOX 2 as the anchor of FOX 2 News in the Morning from 4:00-5:00 in March 2011. Angie will also contribute throughout the morning newscasts.
She came to St. Louis from KOKH FOX 25 in Oklahoma City, OK where she co-anchored the 4-hour morning show, reported breaking news and conducted daily interviews. While at FOX 25, she was very active in the community by serving as the board media member and spokesperson for Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the ambassador for the “Go Red” for Women campaign and as spokesperson for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

For those who are wondering that Randi Naughton has left, she is still with KTVI.

Keith Olbermann leaves MSNBC

I am saddened to hear that MSNBC got rid of one of my favorite TV Commentators, Keith Olbermann. He was a beacon of truth through these past several years.

I smell bullshit over at Comcast and MSNBC, and this is worse than Phil Donahue's unfair firing in 2003.
